Maggie Clifford is a therapist and Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She earned her Master of Social Work (MSW) from Florida State University in 2009 and has since worked in a variety of settings including private practice, hospice care, and community-based caregiver support.
She treats adults facing challenges across the lifespan, from young adults struggling to gain independence and navigate their newfound adulthood to older adults experiencing lifestyle transitions, retirement, health changes, and loss of loved ones. She has experience treating a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, social anxiety, depression, relationship struggles, caregiver strain, grief and loss, and compassion fatigue. As the spouse of a veteran and first responder, she is also well-versed in the specific challenges faced by active duty and retired military personnel and their families.
She uses an integrated treatment approach, including Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral and Solution-Focused techniques, and Motivational Interviewing. She also counsels from an empowerment perspective, recognizing that change occurs through empowering clients to be their own rescuer and to achieve self-actualization. Most importantly, she strives to provide a supportive and non-judgmental treatment experience where clients feel safe, accepted, and valued.
